Catherine Caspar began her career in IP in 2002 at a Paris IP firm. After 10 years in a large French telecom group and four years at another IP firm, Catherine joined Novagraaf Technologies in 2018.

Career history

Catherine holds a diploma in Engineering (Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité), specialising in digital signal processing. She also gained a degree from the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI). Catherine has been a French Patent Attorney since 2010 and a European Patent Attorney at the EPO since 2008.

Work highlights

Catherine works in various technical fields such as electronics, electricity, computer science, software, software development techniques, user interfaces, telecommunications and networks, web technologies, big data and artificial intelligence (IA), signal (sound and image) processing, imaging systems, optics and physics, telemonitoring systems and sensors, electronic circuit simulations, telemedicine, applications in the field of finance, etc.

Catherine attended the CEIPI seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property in May 2019.

Areas of expertise

Catherine's specialist areas include: opinion work in freedom-to-operate, patentability, infringement and validity analysis, drafting patents (in French and English), managing procedures for submission of French, European, international (PCT) and foreign patent applications, optimal and strategic management of patent portfolios, examination, issuing, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, litigation and pre-litigation case files, policy advice both prosecuting and defending, and dealing with disputes.
