Nicolas Maes

Nicolas Maes initially gained experience in the IP field by working as a Trademark and Design Attorney at an IP firm in 2014. Today, he advises and assists both multinationals and small to medium-sized companies in managing, developing and exploiting their IP portfolios.

Nicolas is also co-responsible for expanding Novagraaf’s Ghent office and supporting companies in East and West Flanders.

Career history

Nicolas graduated from the Ghent Law School with a Master's in Law in 2013 and spent a brief period working as a tutor to law students. After gaining experience with another IP firm, Nicolas joined Novagraaf in December 2018.

Work highlights

Nicolas advises clients on IP strategies in various jurisdictions and has a strong knowledge of both EU and Chinese trademark law and practice. In addition, Nicolas has developed a specialised skillset in the area of EU designs.

Nicolas acts for clients in a wide range of sectors and is particularly skilled in the pharmaceutical, clothing and food sectors.
