Willemien Schneider

Willemien Schneider is a BMM-certified Trademark Attorney and a registered European Trademark & Design Attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property law.

Willemien specialises in corporate IP portfolio management and advises global clients in the cosmetics, retail and food industries. She is known for her strategic, pragmatic and commercially oriented approach, always placing her clients’ interests first.

Career history

Willemien completed her Bachelor's degree in Dutch law at the University of Groningen, after which she completed a Master's degree in Information Law (including IP law) at the renowned IViR Institute in Amsterdam.

She joined Novagraaf in July 2018 after first working as a trademark attorney at another firm in Amsterdam, where she built up considerable experience advising SMEs and medium-sized companies in various industries.

Willemien graduated from the training institute of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Attorneys in January 2021.

Willemien is a member of the BMM and MARQUES. The BMM certification is a recognised quality mark for trademark attorneys in the Benelux.

Areas of expertise

Willemien's daily activities include advising on the availability and registerability of trademarks, filing strategies, conflict mediation, opposition management, invalidity actions, drafting coexistence agreements, and strategic and efficient management of (international) IP portfolios. In addition, Willemien focuses on notice-and-takedown procedures, social media infringement and, because of her client base, parallel imports and exhaustion. She also enjoys giving presentations and lectures about IP, including at Utrecht University.
