Dr. Alexander Gaul acts as a Director of the Legal Department. He is a German Attorney (Rechtsanwalt) and has built up a profound knowledge of IP-related matters during his career.
Alexander has particular expertise in managing global IP portfolios and provides clients with strategic advice on the development, protection, exploitation and optimisation of their IP portfolios. He practices in German, European and international trademark law, design, copyright, competition and contractual law. Alexander is also an expert in combating product piracy. He currently manages a team of 15 IP specialists.
Career history
Alexander obtained his First and Second Bar Exam from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany, and his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from the University Augsburg, Germany. He subsequently gained experience in managing major IP portfolios at a renowned law firm in Munich, Germany, before joining Brandstock in 1995. He is a registered German Attorney.

Alexander has extensive experience in trademark and design filing projects and management, registry of trademarks, trademark and design infringement actions (litigation), office actions, oppositions, nullity actions, preparing coexisting agreements and strategic and efficient management of international IP portfolios. He also focuses on domain name disputes, notice-and-takedown procedures and combating product piracy, including border seizure procedures.
